My Core Values for Beacon Model Congress & what they mean to me
Community ¶
To me community is truly one of the most important aspects of this club, and is what makes this club as great as it is. The family formed from this club is what I hope to make stronger and help promote in the year to come, and for years to come after that.
Kindness ¶
I believe that if we treat people with kindness, then we as a club can do anything we put our minds to and will create a safe environment for the community we have created.
Responsibility ¶
I take my responsibilities very seriously, and I also take the responsibilities of the rest of leadership very seriously and will assure that we as a team do what we need to do to make sure that the will of the people of this club is heard and acted upon.
Diversity ¶
I also believe that to have a successful club and a true community we must ensure the diversity of this club, we must make sure that we make a welcoming environment for new members of all backgrounds.
Inclusiveness ¶
We must make sure that the club is a safe space for all members, this means we must ensure that everyone is included in all activities, feels heard, and feels like they have a voice in the club.
Respect ¶
I personally believe that if we do not have respect we have nothing. If we cannot respect each other’s opinions, and their voicing of those opinions then the community and the safe space we have created is entirely negated. We must make sure that all we do is with respect to each other, and the kindness we hold promoted from that respect.
Transparency ¶
We must make sure that leadership and the people of this club are not two separate entities. I believe that we should have transparency behind the actions of leadership and have communication to the people be unhindered.
Stewardship ¶
We must ensure that this club remains long past we graduate, so that new generations of aspiring leaders and thinkers can enjoy the same opportunities we have been granted as a community by the transformative nature of this club. We shall make solid the values we hold dear and the concepts that make this club what it is.
We cannot have a functioning club without each and every one of these values, if one is absent then none can serve us.
